I've been a fan of the SID for a number of years.  Back when I was younger, I spent many hours in front of a Commodore 64.  When I first heard of the SID Station, I became very excited until I saw what the price tag was.  So, I put off my dream of having my own SID synth for a handful of years until I came across the Midibox SID. Eventually I picked up a couple of old Commodore 64s off of Ebay so that I could scavange some parts from them.  I also ordered some kits to make the build a bit easier.

Today I finished the core part of the synth.  It took me about 5 hours to put things together and do all of the soldering.  I also put together a little mod so that I can use the original C64 power supply for the Midibox SID.  Here's what I have done so far:

Next I need to test this module to make sure it works like it's supposed to.  After that I build the SID module itself.  I'm hoping to have things all put together by the end of next week.  The most difficult, though, will be deciding what I want to mount this thing into.

9/26/07 - This project has been put on hold for a little while until I can acquire some more parts.
